- Title and date based on the writing on the front of the photograph.
Written on the front of the photograph on a sticker is "THE CRASH of '44 Boundary Bay No 5 OTU". Written on the back of the photograph is "#5 OTU Boundary Bay. Crash 1944" and "CRAZY PILOT couldn't take it anymore".
According to military historian Michael DesMazes, this is "Liberator EW282 code letter “W”. Photo taken likely Dec 6th or 7th 1944... This was the Liberator he [Sgt. Scratch] tried to take off in minutes before he took the Mitchell. It was repaired and flew again and oddly enough seems to be the last of the 5 O.T.U. Libs to be Struck Of Strength, March 6th 1946."
