Notes
The company name Wimberdar is derived from their two main mills, Wimberley Mill and Dark Mill, both situated at Bimscombe, near Stroud, Gloucestershire. The company was founded in 1883 by two brothers, Francis and Uriah Citchley, trading unde rhte name Critchley Bros Ltd. They originally specialized in knitting pins, crochet hooks and small haberdashery items made of bone and wood. In the 1890s the company expanded under the management of Cecil Foster Citchley, Francis's elder son. All manner of turned products were made, including hair pins, fishing rods, walking sticks and handles.
