Description

Vacuum Bottle. Thermos brand red vacuum bottle with detachable plastic lid for food or drink. a) Plastic and metal body with a square checkered design in red, black and white. “HL” scratched into side of body at bottom. Engraved on underside of body in metal “A THERMOS BRAND VACUUM BOTTLE / TORONTO, CANADA / CANADIAN THERMOS PRODUCT LIMITED / FILLER NO 22F”. Raised letters on bottom read “THERMOS”. Interior is a shiny silver metal. b) Tan-coloured plastic lid with threaded closure. Raised lettering on top reads “TO TIGHTEN / TO REMOVE / THERMOS / TM. REG. / MADE IN CANADA”. Piece of red plastic affixed to interior of lid.

Narrative

Mother used to make lunches for fishing trips up to Bella Coola and Prince Rupert region. It was the only homemade food that they would get the entire time, otherwise they would have to make something quick on the boat. This was in the 1960s and 1970s.
